I'm here with everything. The flights weren't that bad, but I didn't really get any sleep. When we landed I was way excited. It's so pretty, everything is COVERED in snow! We were on a small plane on the way to St Petes, so when we landed we had to get off the plane like you see in the movies, where you just walk off down the stairs. It made me pretty nervous. I thought I was going to fall down! I was a little shocked by the cold, but it's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I didn't say any bad words when I got off, so that was a surprise. :)
We met our native coordinator at the airport. She introduced us to our families, well everyone's except mine! Of course my family is away and won't be back until Monday, so I'm staying with a grandma of one of the kids. The coordinator took me to my house after she dropped the boys off at their apartment. Brandon, one of the teachers, is staying with Jesh, the Head Teacher. They couldn't find a home for him, so he's staying here with Jesh.
Well, my grandma is really nice, but she doesn't speak a word of English! So it was interesting, to say the least. I'm able to communicate pretty well. Even though I don't understand, it's pretty easy to get across what I need. Like this morning, I needed water, so I did a hand signal of drinking, and then pointed to the word "water" in my Russian dictionary. She understood, and gave me some! :) I also gave her the scarf we bought at Wal Mart, she kept telling me thank you! She liked it, so that made me happy.
Last night was hard, it took a long time to fall asleep. I didn't cry as much as I thought I would. Thank goodness. But I did however, wake up at 12:30 am completely wide awake! I didn't fall back asleep until 3! That's when it hit me, that's when I did my crying! But after a lot of prayer, I was able to calm down and fall back asleep.
Then I woke up this morning I got up and ate breakfast and got dressed. Then my grandma walked me to Jesh's apartment which is only 2 minutes away. Now I'm sitting here writing to you!
I'm doing really well, except that my stomach is KILLING me! I wish it would just feel better! But other than that, I'm doing ok. I haven't really cried this morning, I tend to do better when I have people around me.
Today I'm not exactly sure what we're doing. We're all meeting here at 11 and then we're going to go over our schedules and learn more stuff. I'm not sure what though.
Hey, Dad I didn't see much of Germany, just the little Gate that we were in. But everyone was speaking German. It made me wish you had taught me so I could understand! Oh, that reminds me, when we were in Germany, I got stopped by security. Apparently I look like I'd carry a bomb! lol They made me open my bag because they saw something in there that they didn't know what it was. It ended up being my converter. lol They also had to throw away my water that I got in Chicago! And they did that scanny thing on my body! lol Yes, because I'm the kind of person that would bring a bomb on a plane! lol I love my country, but I wouldn't die for it! lol
